The problem

How to buy second-hand without support that is only a bot

Buy somewhere small enough that a person reads your message. On juunam you contact juunam, never the individual who owned the piece before you, and answers come from people rather than a queue bot. We publish no response-time promise, because we have no automated system enforcing one and we would rather say that than invent a number.

Why this happens

At marketplace scale, support has to be automated to be affordable, so the first several replies are usually templates matched on keywords. Reviewers describe the same loop repeatedly: a canned answer that does not address the case, a link to a help article they had already read, and no way to escalate to someone who can actually look. Copy-paste replies and a dispute closed without investigation were among the most frequent complaints we found.

What juunam does

  • One counterparty, and it is the business — not a stranger
  • Nothing settles financially while a dispute is open
  • Answers come from people, not a queue bot

What to check, wherever you buy

Put the outcome you want in the first line

Whether a human or a classifier reads it, the first sentence decides the routing. "I want a refund for a piece that arrived damaged, order 1234" gets handled; three paragraphs of context ending in a question does not. Keep the story for the second paragraph, where it still helps a person and costs nothing with a machine.

One thread, one issue

Raising a second problem inside an existing thread is the most reliable way to have both forgotten. Separate threads are tracked separately everywhere, and the one that matters most gets to keep its own clock.

Ask who is liable, not who is helpful

On a marketplace the platform's role is often mediation between you and the seller; in a shop, the shop is the seller. Both can be well run, but they behave very differently when the answer is expensive. Knowing which one you are dealing with tells you what to expect before you need it.

Where this stops

We are small. That is why a person reads your message, and it is also why there is no 24-hour hotline. If you need guaranteed same-hour support, a large platform genuinely serves you better.
